The FDNY Foundation Commemorates the 21st Anniversary of 9/11

September 16, 2022The FDNY Foundation joins the FDNY in honoring 37 FDNY members who died of illnesses related to their work in the rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center. Their names were added to the FDNY World Trade Center Memorial Wall on Wednesday, September 14th in a ceremony at FDNY Headquarters in Brooklyn.
To date, 299 FDNY members have died of World Trade Center related illnesses. The FDNY Foundation will never forget the service and sacrifice of all FDNY members we have lost since 9/11.
The inscription on the World Trade Center Memorial Wall reads: “Dedicated to the memory of those who bravely served this Department protecting life and property in the City of New York in the rescue and recovery effort at Manhattan BOX 5-5-8087 WORLD TRADE CENTER”
Those added today to the World Trade Center Memorial Wall are: Assistant Chief Alvin Suriel, Deputy Chief Vincent Mandala, EMS Deputy Chief Richard Chatterton, Battalion Chief Edward Tierney, Battalion Chief Ronald Kemly, Battalion Chief Arthur Lakiotes, Captain Michael Lyons, EMS Captain Michael Earley, EMS Captain Charles Harris, Lieutenant John Vigliotti, EMS Lieutenant Pablo Guzman, EMS Lieutenant John Raftery, Lieutenant Patrick Whalen, Lieutenant, Mark Farrell, Supervising Fire Marshal John McCauley, Fire Marshal Michael Federowski, Firefighter Michael Verzi, Firefighter Robert Reynolds, Firefighter Alfred Artesona, Firefighter James Walsh, Firefighter Gregory Lamanna, Firefighter Frederick Gallagher, Firefighter Christopher Viviano, Firefighter Frank Gasparino, Firefighter Andrew Hornbuckle, Firefighter James Redmond, Firefighter Patrick Lauro, Firefighter Michael Toal, EMT Mark Weiner, Firefighter James Cody Jr, Firefighter Dennis McClean, Firefighter Stephen Reilly, Paramedic Stephenson McCoy, Firefighter Wayne Goehring, Firefighter Anthony Malfi, Firefighter Dennis Reilly, Firefighter James Wind.
