August 1, 2014Brooklyn Cyclones FDNY Appreciation Night Raises Funds for FDNY Foundation
The 14th Annual FDNY Night at MCU Park benefited the important work of the FDNY Foundation. Special events like these help the Foundation in its mission to save lives in New York City.
The Cyclones took on the Jamestown Jammers on July 18 at 7 p.m. Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
“We love evenings like this one where we get to combine fun with the importance of our mission,” said FDNY Foundation Chairman Stephen Ruzow.
The evening featured a special performance by the FDNY’s Pipe & Drums band, a special appearance by FDNY mascot, Hot Dog and a pre-game ceremony.
“We are so grateful for organizations like the Brooklyn Cyclones, who appreciate the hard work of the FDNY and want to make sure the department is recognized with a night of good fun,” said FDNY Foundation Executive Director Jean O’Shea.
Game attendees could stop by a Fire Safety and Education table to get life-saving tips. In addition, the Cyclones wore special uniforms featuring Engine/Ladder numbers of local companies on the sleeves, as well as commemorative caps.
The evening will wrapped up with an exciting fireworks display.
The Jammers walked away with the win, topping the Cyclones 12-7.
