October 7, 2014New Slate of Officers and Board Members at FDNY Foundation
The FDNY Foundation, the official non-profit organization of the New York City Fire Department, announced its new slate of officers and board members at its annual meeting. Three members of the FDNY Foundation’s Executive Committee were elected to officer positions.
“The Foundation plays an important role in helping the FDNY accomplish our life-saving mission day after day,” said FDNY Commissioner Daniel A.Nigro.
Stephen Ruzow was re-elected Chairman of the FDNY Foundation. Ruzow joined the FDNY Foundation in 2000 and has been chairman since 2006. Ruzow held senior executive positions with Donna Karan and Calvin Klein. He has played a pivotal role in the growth of the FDNY Foundation and the impact it has made on the reduction of fires and fire fatalities in New York City .
“It’s truly an honor to serve as Chairman and I look forward to another year of working side-by-side with the Department,” said Ruzow.
Robert Zito, founder of Zito Partners, was elected Vice-Chair. Zito has been a Board member for 10 years, and became close to the Department after establishing the NYSE Fallen Heroes Fund while Executive Vice President of the New York Stock Exchange.
Robert Tucker, Chief Executive Officer of T&M Security, was elected Secretary. Tucker has been a member of the Board since 2011and has been instrumental in securing major support for the FDNY Foundation mission to save lives and protect property.
In addition, Stephen Rush was re-elected as treasurer to the FDNY Foundation. Rush, FDNY Assistant Commissioner for Budget & Finance, has been with the New York City Fire Department for 35 years and brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and fiduciary guidance to the FDNY Foundation.
“We have a strong team at the FDNY Foundation, led by a talented group of officers,” said FDNY Foundation Executive Director Jean O’Shea.
“Many of the programs funded by the Foundation are a significant reason why fire fatalities are at record lows in our great city. The training, education and equipment the Foundation helps fund provide critical support for our members and all New Yorkers,” said Commissioner Nigro.
The FDNY Foundation allows the FDNY to use donations from concerned business, foundations and individuals to promote awareness and outreach to the public, training and support of members of the FDNY and other initiatives.
