FDNY Foundation Hosts 2nd Annual FDNY Foundation Climb To SUMMIT
April 25, 2024May is Mental Health Awareness Month
May 3, 2024On Tuesday, April 30, the FDNY Foundation joined the FDNY in a promotion ceremony for 11 FDNY members who were promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief at FDNY Headquarters in Brooklyn.
The FDNY Foundation congratulates these 11 Battalion Chiefs on their promotions. This is a tremendous accomplishment for them and their families. We wish them continued success and thank them for their service and commitment to protecting the people and City of New York and proudly representing the FDNY.
“For months, you toiled over books, studying for hours on end, reading, and reviewing to make sure the skills you need to be prepared are sharp,” said Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh. “You have observed the strategies used by others to become effective leaders and thought about what strategies you’d like to employ once you begin your role as Battalion Chief. You have likely leaned on each other for guidance and counsel, and you are here to celebrate and support each other as you reach this milestone in your careers.”
“Each of you brings decades of experience to your new position. That experience is critical on the fireground. You are now responsible for important decisions that will impact dozens of Firefighters on every tour,” said Chief of Department John Hodgens. “You are the Incident Commander at a fire and at tough moments, our members will turn to you, and will rely on you to make decisions. It is a tremendous responsibility, but I know each of your experience will inform you to make the right choices.”
