The FDNY Foundation congratulates the 148 Probationary EMTs who graduated today from the EMS Academy. They are a remarkable group and we wish them the best of luck in the FDNY. We thank them for choosing a career of service and commitment to protecting the people and City of New York, and proudly representing the FDNY. We would also like to acknowledge and thank the 6 veterans who graduated. Also in this class are four children or grandchildren of FDNY members lost in the line of duty, or of World Trade Center related illnesses.
“I know you are prepared, having been taught by the best instructors at our EMS Academy. You are ready to become the FDNY EMTs this city depends on in times of need,” said Chief of Department John Hodgens.
“From the ashes of the World Trade Center rose the spirits of those 343, and they sparked the resilience for generations to come. They have sown seeds that have grown into the graduates today. From the ashes have grown the best, the bravest, the brightest men and women. These members have picked up the baton and will flourish into the department’s future leaders,” said Chief of EMS Michael Fields.
