December 10, 2024Holiday Safety Tips from the FDNY Foundation
December 16, 2024On Wednesday, December 11, the FDNY Foundation joined the FDNY at a promotion ceremony for 16 FDNY members who were promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief at the FDNY Fire Academy on Randall’s Island.
The FDNY Foundation congratulates these 16 Battalion Chiefs on their promotions. This is a tremendous accomplishment for them and their families. We wish them continued success and thank them for their service and commitment to protecting the people and City of New York and proudly representing the FDNY.
“Today each of you being promoted have already accomplished so much in your careers, and each of you carry the kind of education that is only achieved by doing,” said FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker. “As Battalion Chiefs, you will help countless junior members become the firefighters they need to be to be safe and successful in the FDNY. You will make tough decisions. Most importantly, you will work to keep your members safe.”
“Each of you brings decades of experience to your new position, and that experience is crucial on the fireground. That all of you have been through so many different scenarios and emergency situations is what makes this Department the greatest in the world,” said Chief of Department John Esposito. “We need you, and we’re counting on you. We are confident in your abilities, and we know you will be the leaders our members in the field deserve.”
The newly promoted members represent more than 300 years of experience with the FDNY. They will be assigned to units throughout New York City.
