The FDNY Foundation congratulates the 184 Probationary EMTs who graduated today from the EMS Academy. For the past 13 weeks, they have worked to learn the skills needed to save lives and offer hope to those who need it. They are a remarkable group and we wish them the best of luck in the FDNY. We thank them for choosing a career of service and commitment to protecting the people and City of New York, and proudly representing the FDNY. We would also like to acknowledge and thank the 7 veterans who graduated. Also in this class are 28 members who started their journey at either the FDNY Captain Vernon A. Richard High School or the FDNY Youth EMS Academy. The FDNY Foundation proudly supports these wonderful programs.
“As members of the FDNY Emergency Medical Service, you will serve on the first line of defense providing critical care and assistance to those in dire need. In times of chaos, you will remain calm and composed, utilizing your training to save lives, alleviate suffering, and bring hope to those who desperately seek it. Being an EMT is not just a job, it’s a calling,” said Chief of EMS Michael Fields. “Every day you will face challenges that will test your physical strength and mental fortitude. I am confident that you will carry the torch of the FDNY will pride, distinction and unwavering dedication. The road ahead may not be easy but know that you have what it takes to make a difference.”
