January 7, 2025On Monday, January 6, the FDNY Foundation joined the FDNY for an EMS Officer Promotion ceremony at St. John’s University in Queens. 43 EMS Officers were promoted to the ranks of Deputy Assistant Chief, Division Chief, Deputy Chief, Captain, and Sergeant.
The FDNY Foundation congratulates these 43 EMS Officers on their promotions. This is a tremendous accomplishment for them and their families. We wish them continued success and thank them for their service and commitment to protecting the people and City of New York and proudly representing the FDNY.
“FDNY EMS is the backbone of our Department. It is you who respond to deliver emergency medical care in dangerous situations, at all hours of the day, in all corners of our city. We know this isn’t easy work. We know you are challenged daily, and we know that you are tasked with doing a lot with a little,” said FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker. “The tenacity with which you do this work is commendable. We appreciate your dedication to our city and to the FDNY.”
“The people in this room have worked in assignments across the five boroughs for many years. Through those years, our newly promoted members have gained extensive experience and demonstrated exceptional skill, leadership, and compassion. You have earned this, and this promotion comes with the opportunity to inspire, to lead, and to mentor the next generations of this Department. You are now role models, and your actions will set the standard for others to follow,” said Chief of Department John Esposito.
“Education is key to the growth and positive development of the FDNY Emergency Medical Service. As these officers and chiefs step into the new roles, they bring a wealth of experience, expertise and a deep sense of responsibility. Their commitment to service, excellence, and professionalism is evident in their actions and will undoubtedly shape the future of this fire department. As they transition into their new roles as sergeants, captains, chiefs and staff chiefs, they will continue to uphold the highest standards of leadership, professionalism, and service,” said Chief of EMS Michael Fields.
