FDNY Foundation Congratulates 43 FDNY EMS Officers on their Promotions
January 6, 2025On Tuesday, January 7, the FDNY Foundation joined the FDNY for a Fire Officer Promotion ceremony on Staten Island. 97 members were promoted to the ranks of: assistant chief, deputy assistant chief, deputy chief, captain, lieutenant, marine wiper and supervising fire marshal.
The FDNY Foundation congratulates these 97 Fire Officers on their promotions. This is a tremendous accomplishment for them and their families. We wish them continued success and thank them for their service and commitment to protecting the people and City of New York and proudly representing the FDNY.
“As leaders now – there will be challenging times. You will be pressed to make quick decisions and hard choices. You will lead your fellow firefighters with respect, with kindness and in the spirit of teamwork. I know you will do this well, as it is incumbent on you to teach those below you to be the kind of firefighters you were yourselves. Rely on your training, rely on your peers and always keep learning and challenging yourselves. Today, the future is bright because of you, and I know our Department is a better place with all of you among its leadership,” said FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker.
“The FDNY’s legacy is built on the shoulders of the leaders who came before us. It is our job to carry that legacy forward. We are entrusted with a great responsibility – protecting life and property in our city. We can only accomplish that goal as a team, by being respectful and supportive of one another, and remembering that no one can do this job alone,” said Chief of Department John Esposito.
There were three legacy members among the newly promoted officers. They are the children of FDNY members who were killed in the line of duty or who have died from World Trade Center-related illnesses.
