August 5, 2024FDNY Foundation joins FDNY for Bronx Boroughwide Plaque Dedication Ceremony
August 7, 2024On Tuesday, August 6th, the FDNY Foundation joined the FDNY for a Manhattan Boroughwide Plaque Dedication Ceremony at the Fire Academy on Randall’s Island. Nine FDNY members who we lost over the last year were remembered.
The FDNY Foundation will never forget these nine members we have lost. We thank them for their service and sacrifice to the people and City of New York and the FDNY.
First Deputy Commissioner Joseph Pfeifer said, “They carried out the mission of this Department every day. Whether it was on 9/11 – responding that day or the days and months that followed, in rescue or recovery…or in the thousands of emergencies they faced, big and small, in the years that followed. No matter the call, they responded with the same class and character and offer of service. May these plaques serve as a continued reminder of them and their memories.”
Acting Chief of Department John Esposito said, “As first responders, we know they were brave, selfless, and honorable. They exemplified what it means to be a true hero, rushing towards danger when others run from it. Their commitment to the FDNY and New York City will remain in our memories forever.”
The FDNY Foundation joins the FDNY in honoring the following members:
BC Stephen Geraghty, Rescue Battalion
