October 27, 2017FDNY Foundation Announces Grant to Fund Fire Safety Education
The FDNY Foundation is proud to announce it has received a grant for $20,000 from the Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc.
Through the grant, the FDNY Foundation will continue to fund the Fire Safety Education Unit, which each year educates members of the public in life-saving fire safety. Funding will also support the Get Alarmed NYC Program, giving New Yorkers most vulnerable to fire the opportunity to receive free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and have them installed in their homes.
The Motorola Solutions Foundation awards grants each year to organizations that support and advance public safety programs, and to technology and engineering education initiatives.
“We are grateful to the Motorola Solutions Foundation for their support of the FDNY’s critical fire safety education program,” said FDNY Foundation Director Jean O’Shea. “The partnership between Motorola and the FDNY Foundation is essential to the FDNY’s strong and effective outreach into every corner of our city. We know our fire safety initiatives- together with programs like Get Alarmed NYC – are making a difference and saving lives.”
This year, Motorola Solutions Foundation grants will support programs that help more than 2 million students, teachers, first responders and community members across the United States.
“Motorola Solutions Foundation is proud to support the work of the FDNY Foundation,” said Matt Blakely, Executive Director of the Motorola Solutions Foundation. “As a leading technology company that supports the safety of communities worldwide, we know how important it is to educate tomorrow’s technology professionals as well as enlighten civilians and first responders on today’s safety needs.”
