FDNY Holds Plaque Dedication Ceremony for EMT Frederick D. Whiteside
November 25, 2024The FDNY Foundation is grateful for our FDNY firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics for the exceptional work they do in protecting New York City and its residents. We are thankful to our friends and donors for their wonderful support in helping the Foundation fund the lifesaving work of the FDNY, including fire and life safety programs, and ensuring that our firefighters and EMS personnel have the best available training and equipment.
The FDNY Foundation wishes you and your loved ones a happy, healthy, and Safe Thanksgiving! Below are some #FDNYSmart safety tips to remember when cooking this Thanksgiving:
-Most fires in the home start in the kitchen. Don’t leave cooking food unattended.
-Stand by your pan and turn your handles in.
-Wear short or tight-fitting sleeves. Long sleeves are more likely to catch on fire or get caught on pot handles.
-Keep the area around the stove clear of towels, papers, potholders and anything that can burn.
-Treat burns immediately with cool running water.
-Have a working smoke/CO alarm.
