William Wood Watches is proud to announce its 5th international watch collaboration in 5 years. It has partnered with the FDNY Foundation to produce a limited edition watch named ‘The Bravest Watch’, honouring the men and women of the FDNY.
William Wood Watches will be kindly donating 15% from each watch sale to the FDNY Foundation which will support key initiatives such as fire and life safety education, fire and EMS training programs and equipment needs for FDNY heroes. William Wood Watches has created a remarkably emotive watch with fire department history beating through every component.
“Following other successful partnerships, this is another special collaboration that will directly support the Firefighters, EMTs, Paramedics and officers of the FDNY. These men and women put their lives on the line to protect the residents and visitors of New York City. We are proud to work with partners like William Wood Watches that appreciate and respect the dangers FDNY members face each day.” said Stephen Ruzow, Chairman of the FDNY Foundation.
“I’m proud to be working with the FDNY Foundation on this incredible collaboration watch, honoring the Men and Women of the New York Fire Department. To see my grandfather’s name on the dial of The Bravest Watch which is stocked in the Fire Zone Learning Center at Rockefeller Centre is a special moment and one that my grandfather, William Wood, would be very proud of.” said Jonny Garrett, CEO and Founder of William Wood Watches.
The Watch
The watch is engraved with the FDNY Foundation emblem on the caseback and is limited to just 250 pieces. The case is made fully from stainless steel and is fitted with a world-renowned Seiko NH35 Automatic Movement with a 41-hour power reserve. The case is sealed with a double domed sapphire-crystal glass and is 100 metres water resistant.
Inside the watch, there is a piece of melted original 1920’s British brass firefighter’s helmet, worn by firefighters 100 years ago. All the craftsmanship is executed in the heart of London which is where William Wood Watches originates.
The straps are made from genuine British fire hose that has been used in live fires over the last 10 years. The hose is cut, cleaned, and repurposed into beautiful luxury watch straps available with The Bravest Watch. There is a choice of upcycled London Fire Brigade Red, West Midlands Fire Service Yellow, Tyne & Wear Fire Service Blue, British Army Fire Unit Green, or Fire Gear Straps.
Proudly positioned at the top of the dial is William Wood’s logo which is the side profile of a 1920’s British brass firefighter’s helmet. The seconds markers running along the outside of the dial are the exact chequered markings off the side of a British Fire Engine, and the seconds hand of the watch takes inspiration from the chime of a vintage fire bell.
